N2 1billion Fraud: Appeal Court Upholds Former Pension Chairman, Abdulrasheed Maina s Eight-Year Jail Term

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal on Friday upheld the eight-year jail term imposed on a former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, over money laundering to the tune of about N2.1billion.  A three-member panel of the appellate court unanimously affirmed the judgement delivered on November 8, 2021 by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, where Maina was convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison.

2 1bn fraud: Appeal Court upholds Maina s conviction

The Court of Appeal on Friday in Abuja upheld the judgment of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court which sentenced Abdulrasheed Maina to eight years imprisonment. Maina, who was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), was sentenced following his conviction for laundering pension funds to the tune of N2.1 billion.
