Thiruvananthapuram: Months ahead of the Assembly Elections in Kerala, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has decided to refer rape cases registered against Congress leader Oommen Chandy and five other leaders to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
A woman, also the prime accused woman in the multi-crore solar panel scam during the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) government, had in the past filed a complaint against six persons, claiming that she was sexually exploited by them in 2012.
Months ahead of assembly polls in Kerala, the LDF government has decided to recommend a CBI probe into cases against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and five others filed over allegations of sexual exploitation by a prime accused woman in the sensational solar scam.

Ahead of elections in Kerala due later this year, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has recommended a CBI probe into cases against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and five others filed over allegations of sexual abuse linked to the state s infamous solar scam .
The opposition Congress called the move politically motivated , saying that since the government could not find anything against the party leaders in the last five years, it had taken the decision as elections were around the corner. Mr Chandy said he was ready to face any probe.
