Muscat: A pilot solar energy project has been implemented in two schools in Oman’s Dhahira governorate in the towns of Ibri and Yanqul.
The two schools that have earned the unique distinction of having implemented this renewable energy project are Fatima Bint Qais School for Basic Education in Ibri and Al Ala bin Al Hadrami Basic Education School in Yanqul.
These two schools form part of the project that covers a total of 22 schools in the Sultanate. The power production of this project is estimated to contribute up to 50 per cent of each school’s need in kilowatts.

Muscat: The solar energy project has been implemented in two schools in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA), said: The solar energy project that was completed in Al Dhahirah Governorate is considered one of the important projects and initiatives undertaken by Shell in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and SMEs.
The project has been implemented in two of the governorate schools, namely, Fatima Bint Qais School in the Wilayat of Ibri and Al-Ala Bin Al-Hadrami School in the Wilayat of Yanqul.
Engineer, Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Maamari from the Directorate General of Education in Al-Dhahirah Governorate, the supervisor of the project, explained that the project aims to develop the knowledge of students and visitors about solar energy technology, its system, the importance of its exploitation, and its multiple advantages and benefits.
