Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd) Tuesday visited Tarbela Dam to review on ground the preparedness level for mobilization of the contractor to the site and start of construction work on the project, scheduled to be commenced in July this year.
The contract for civil works of the 1530 MW-Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project (T5) last week has already been awarded to the contractor. During the visit, WAPDA Chairman had a detailed round of Tunnel N0. 5, sites of the Power House and Switch Yard and Intake of the Power House, therein, he was briefed about mobilization of the contractor and time lines for overall implementation of the project.

HARIPUR: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Lt-Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain on Tuesday visited the site of Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project (T5) to oversee the preparations for the civil work.
The visit came in the wake of awarding the contract for civil work of the 1530 megawatts Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project (T5) last week.
He reviewed the preparedness level for starting construction work on the project scheduled to be commenced in July this year.
During the visit, Wapda chairman had a detailed round of Tunnel N0. 5, sites of the powerhouse and switchyard and intake of the powerhouse, where he was briefed about the mobilization of the contractor and timelines for the overall implementation of the project.
HARIPUR: Wapda chairman retired Lt-Gen Muzammil Hussain has said the 1530MW Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project (T5) will help fulfil the country’s growing energy needs.
He said this during a visit to the site of the project, whose civil works contract was awarded last week.
The Wapda chairman reviewed arrangements for the start of work slated for next July.
He said T5 was one of the 10 mega projects being executed by Wapda in the country to double hydropower production.
Retired Lt-Gen Muzammil said cheap electricity would reduce the country’s reliance on imported expensive fuel.
