Kathmandu, May 13 (Prensa Latina) Mount Everest s climbing season resulted in its first two fatalities, a Swiss mountaineer and an US citizen, hiking company officials reported in Nepal on Thursday.
Swiss mountaineer Abdul Waraich, 41, and US citizen Puwei Liu, 55, died of exhaustion on Wednesday, while descending the slopes of the 8,849-meter-high mountain.
According to Seven Summit Treks Manager Thaneshwar Guragai, who was supporting the climbers, additional sherpas were sent with supplies and oxygen, but unfortunately they could not save them.
Waraich, who was on his way down after reaching the summit, died near the south summit.
