‘Preserve Kuwait’s ancient past’
KUWAIT CITY, March 6: A member of the Heritage and Antiquities Preservation Committee in the Municipal Council, Maha Al-Baghli, spoke of a tendency by the Council to transfer the Mubarakiya project to the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) to ensure the preservation of these heritage buildings to prevent their exploitation or being demolished so that “we do not lose this beautiful and ancient past of Kuwait’s history.”

This came during a fact-finding committee’s inspection of the sanitation and preservation contracts of historical sites in the Municipal Council, Mubarakiya Market, with the participation of members from the NCCAL and the Kuwait Municipality. Al-Baghli went on to say: “We have seen some violations and encroachments on the new buildings that were constructed in the Mubarakiya area.”
Meeting discusses issue of recycling of waste by companies
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Municipal Council, headed by Deputy Mayor Abdullah Al-Mahri, agreed during a recent meeting to extend the work of the fact-finding committee which is looking into the cleaning contracts headed by Engr Abdul Salam Al-Randi and the decision by Engr Maha Al-Baghli and member Ahmed Hadian, to monitor the cleaning contracts of the Kuwait Municipality, and keep tap on the scheduled demolition of buildings in the Mubarakiya markets. The meeting also discussed the issue of recycling of waste by companies and violations involving the Jahra National Park.
The Municipal Council approved the formation of the five-member Committee for the Preservation of Historic Monuments in Kuwait. The members are Abdullah Al-Mahri, Dr Hassan Kamal, Eng. Maha Al-Baghli, Ahmed Hadian and Abdul Salam Al-Randi.
Contracts must be reconsidered
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: The committee that was formed to look into the irregularities in the Municipal Council related to the cleaning contracts has come to the conclusion that there was no oversight or accountability and may have cost the country nearly 20 million dinars due to legal violations. The head of the committee, Abdul Salam Al-Randi, said the factfinding committee was formed last September with three members from the municipal council Eng Abdul Salam Al-Randi (the committee chairman) and Eng Maha Al-Baghli (the committee’s Rapporteur) Ahmed Hadian Al-Enezi (member of the committee), to study and discuss hygiene contracts and the state of hygiene in the country, by inviting the concerned state agencies to find out the most important causes of the deterioration of the hygiene situation in Kuwait and discuss the most important observations and propose solutions to develop the upcoming hygiene contracts to suit the urban expansion of Kuwait and
