Srinagar, May 24: Amid lockdown imposed by the government to prevent COVID-19 from spreading in Jammu and Kashmir, the non-local labour force has been finding it so easy to make their entry into the Valley at a time with the region is facing serious economic crisis due to pandemic.
The jam packed buses with non-local labouers are entering into the Kashmir throwing away the Standard operating Procedure (SoP) that calls for 50 per cent seating capacity in public transport, to winds. As per news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the non-local labourers are visiting Jammu and Kashmir to earn their livelihood.

Labour codes changed, previous books of no use in J&K
JAMMU TAWI, MARCH 16: The Commissioner/ Sectretary Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat today stated that the Labour legislations have changed and the old books of Labour codes are of no use now.
Labour Commissioner, J&K, Abdul Rashid War, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Ahmad Hussain Bhat, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Centre, Abdul Satar and other officers were present at the seminar.
J&K claims to be the first among all the states and union territories in the country to prepare rules for Labour Laws which are awaiting approval. He said legislations regarding Labour have changed and previous books based on Labour laws are of no use now. The Commissioner/ Sectretary Labour and Employment, said this during a seminar organized by the Labour Department of Kashmir on Labour Codes for Assistant Labour Commissioners, (ALCs), Labour Officers and Labour Inspectors at Sher e Kashmir International Conference Center, Srinagar.
Labour Commissioner, J&K, Abdul Rashid War, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Ahmad Hussain Bhat, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Centre, Abdul Satar and other officers were present at the seminar.

The Labour Commissioner further informed them that on central governments pattern, the J&K government has drafted four Labour Codes; Jammu and Kashmir Code on Wages, Rules, 2021, Jammu and Kashmir Code on Industrial Relations Rules, 2021, Jammu and Kashmir Code Social Security Rules,2021 and Jammu and Kashmir Occupational Safety, Heath and Working Conditions Rules, 2021, which are under draft and will be finalized after taking their suggestions as well as other things into consideration.
He highlighted that these codes will ensure growth of Industrial and commercial activities by ensuring harmonious relationship between employer and workers providing statutory cover to the workmen through preventive, conciliatory, adjudicatory, punitive action and promoting welfare activities to alleviate the suffering of the working class.
