Doha: Qatar head coach Felix Sanchez was satisfied with his side’s narrow 1-0 win against India in Group E of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 on Thursday.
Abdelaziz Hatim scored the only goal on the night as Qatar moved to 19 points from seven matches while India remained on three points, having played six games.
Second-placed Oman are on 12 points, with two matches in hand, and Qatar will seal top spot in Group E if they avoid defeat when the two sides meet on Monday.

Al Rayyan set up a mouth-watering Amir Cup final with arch-rivals Al Sadd after beating Al Duhail 2-1 in a high-intensity semi-final at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
A victory last night handed ‘The Lions’ a golden chance to win their first Amir Cup title since 2013, also giving an opportunity to French coach Laurent Blanc to clinch his first trophy in Qatar.
Dame Traoré grabbed lead for Al Rayyan with a goal in 13th minute before captain Yacine Brahimi converted a penalty in 59th minute to double the lead. Michael Olunga pulled one back for Al Duhail in 81st minute.

Persepolis FC flexed their credentials as favourites as they came from behind to defeat Al Rayyan SC 3-1 in Group E of the 2021 AFC Champions League at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, yesterday.
The Iranian side turned on the power in the second half as they added to the 1-0 opening day win against UAE’s Al Wahda FSCC while Al Rayyan were left in search of their first victory, having been held 0-0 by FC Goa on Matchday One. Persepolis conceded against the run of play in the 19th minute when Naif Al Hadhrami rose highest to head home Abdelaziz Hatim’s free-kick into the bottom right of the net.
