London, 8 March 2021: The Official Spokesperson for the House of Representatives (HoR), Abdalla Belheeg confirmed that there will be a live broadcast of today’s parliamentary session available to all media channels and institutions through the HoR’s channel (Libya Al-Mustaqbal Channel) without the channel’s scrolling news tape or logo (on the frequency: 11257. Polarization: Horizontal / H Coding rate: 27500) The Spokesperson also confirmed that media coverage permits will be granted to all media channels and institutions that applied to cover the parliamentary session and applied for them by last night.

Tobruk HoR says the 5 Military Commission says its ready to host reunified session in Sirte

London, 24 February 2021: Libya’s Tobruk based parliament, the House of Representatives (HoR), reported yesterday that it has received an official positive reply from the ‘‘5 Military Commission’’. The news was revealed by the HoR’s Official Spokesperson, Abdalla Belheeg. He said the HoR ‘‘had received an official response from the ‘‘Military Five Commission’’ regarding the security readiness of the city of Sirte to hold a session of the House of Representatives to give confidence to the Government of National Unity (GNU) with the Commission’s full readiness to cooperate and coordinate in this regard’’. It is noted that the statement referred to receiving confirmation from the ‘‘Military Five Commission’’ as opposed to how it is usually referred to as the ‘‘5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC)’’.

As one deadline passes: HoR Tobruk starts preparations to hold session in Sirte to endorse new GNU

London, 23 February 2021: The House of Representatives (HoR), the internationally recognized Libyan parliament headed by Ageela Saleh and based in Tobruk, has started preparations to hold a special session in Sirte to endorse the soon-to-be presented Government of National Unity (GNU). The news was revealed by HoR Official Spokesman Abdalla Belheeg on Sunday who stated that this comes on the back of what was approved by the HoR in its session held on the 15th of this month. He did not reveal a date for such a reunified session. Belheeg explained that the 5 + 5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) has been contacted regarding securing the city and holding an HoR session there, adding that the Committee formed by the head of the HoR’s administration, Abdulla Al-Masry, began its work Sunday morning by meeting several local authorities in Sirte, including the Executive Council and the security services in the city.

London, 10 February 2021: Holding a referendum on the country’s draft constitution could delay Libya’s planned general elections beyond the stipulated date of 24 December 2021. The revelation was made during the House of Representatives (HoR) and High State Council (HSC) Joint Constitution Committee third round of talks in Egypt’s Hurghada. HoR Law No. 6 of 2018 stipulates that a referendum must be held on the draft constitution.
