Aldabaiba meets Draghi in Rome

London, 2 June 2021: Libyan Prime Minister, Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba, said in the joint press statement Monday held at the Chigi Palace, Rome with his Italian counterpart, Mario Draghi, that relations between the two countries have resumed with these diplomatic and ministerial mutual visits in such a short period, which reflects the strategic relations at all levels, based on a political will to advance it to broader horizons. The Prime Minister stressed that these mutual visits embody the strong will for joint cooperation between the two countries, finding unified coordination mechanisms regarding common security challenges, and expanding the circle of participation in confronting the phenomenon of illegal immigration with all European countries as well as countries of origin and transit.

Parliament only partially approves 2021 budget, calls Finance Minister for questioning, creates committee to study amended budget

According to its Official Spokesperson, Abdalla Belheeg, ‘‘more than a 100’’ members attended yesterday’s session which was officially devoted to two items: the amended 2021 budget and the state’s Sovereign Positions. Belheeg said members received (with little notice) Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba’s Government response to parliament’s report on the initial budget and after deliberations, parliament decided: 1-Approval chapter 1 (salaries) of the amended 2021 budget if it includes laws passed by parliament such as Law No. (4) of 2018 on increasing the salaries of teachers, the law on the police, the universities law and a number of laws issued by it with regard to adjusting the salaries of a number of agencies, including the salaries of retired people in addition to those who were rec

High-level Turkish delegation visits Tripoli

London, 4 May 2021:   Libyan prime minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba received a high-level Turkish delegation in Tripoli yesterday that included Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Defence Minister Hulusi Akar, and Intelligence Chief Mr. Hakan Fidan, in the presence of the Chief of Staff Mohamed Al-Haddad, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Mangoush. The government reported that the meeting discussed strengthening relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in the interest of the Libyan and Turkish peoples. Foreign ministers’ press conference During a joint press conference later between Foreign Minister Mangoush and her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, Mangoush praised Turkey’s support for the health sector in Libya in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic, and stressed the establishment of distinguished relations with Turkey in the interest of both countries.
