Stuttgart’s varsity softball team completed a 3-0 week by dispatching Maumelle 10-0 in six innings on Thursday night. The Ladybirds delivered 13 hits and struck out only two times while drawing six walks. For the game, Stuttgart had 20 base runners compared to Maumelle’s six.
Much of the Lady Hornets’ offensive woes were due to the outstanding pitching of Emma Banks. The sophomore tossed four innings, allowing four hits and striking out 11. Banks allowed only two free passes for the afternoon.
Stuttgart jumped on the board early with three runs in the first inning followed by four in the second. The big blow came in the top of the second inning when Hagan Hord cracked her second home run of the season, this one a three-run shot that cleared the left-field fence, scoring Erin Ludwig and Emma Banks. The home run would be part of Hord’s three out of three day at the plate.
