For the third year in a row, Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers has raised funds for a nonprofit working to end Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, a rare pediatric cancer that affects the brain.
That light is now gone after Crown, 30, died unexpectedly last week.
Crown, a longtime Walpole resident, was known locally to fans of Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers. He had worked for the brewery in a number of capacities for the last eight years, and visitors would be hard-pressed not to remember seeing the jovial, bearded Crown, either bartending, working in the taproom or leading tours. Most recently, he was a sales representative for the brewery, handling the Rhode Island, South Shore, Cape and Islands market.
“Cam was literally like a son to me,” said Jeff Johnson, a sales manager for the brewery. “I had to manage the crazy bastard. He didn’t listen to me on some days and other days he made me extremely proud, literally like he was a part of my family. He never had anything bad to say about anyone. It was always love.”
