Tim covercrowded state and federal prisons are costing taxpayers around 6. 4 billion dollars. Tim many of those prisoners serve drug related sentences and are on what are called mandatory minimums. Its a conceptdeveloped in the70s. During the so called war o o drugs. With crack and cocain sweeping across the nation. Putting away offenders. Even on small drug charges. Was a priority. Along with the pilot, two coaches and a student trainer. The trainer was Stephanie Streit from hawarden. She graduated from West Sioux High School in 1982. Tim lane helped organize a memorial ceremory planned for thanksgiving eve in the very spot where the plane fell from the sky. I want this to be a celebration. I want the Running Community to turn out, lane said. A celebration honoring the lives of seven from iowa state. They plan to unveil a new park and everlasting memorial in des moines. Hopefully can go there and reflect about it and if it inspires some people thats great. The Memorial Service will take place tomorrow afternoon in des moines. Police and family are calling it a miracle that shahkneekwa Shaniqwa Hayes is still alive. Heres lukas voss with more. Thanks tim and jenna. What we know so far is not much. Hayes had left work on sunday feeling dizzy with flu like syptoms according to a co worker. Thats when we are losing her track. The next thing we know is officials finding her unconsiouss on a moville property. Why she drove there. Or what made her leave the car in the freezing cold. We dont know. Know. Snow. Shaniqwa hayes had left her car running on a moville out of it and walked east. She than turned however. Back west. Walked around a grain bin where she eventually collapsed and was found tuesday.
