Hill County Commissioners Discuss Special Agenda Items The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a special session Tuesday, February 2, to consider several special agenda items. The court approved an agreement with Southern Health Partners to provide inmate medical services in the county jail. The company has been providing inmate medical services in Hill County since 2009. A part-time maintenance position was also approved by the court. Due to the pandemic, the usual assistance from inmate trustees has not been possible, and the new employee is expected to help the county keep up with maintenance jobs. A variance requested by a landowner in the 100 block of Farm Road 2114 in Aquilla was approved by the court. County Judge Justin Lewis said that a small tract of land cut off from the main tract by the roadway is being transferred to another landowner.

County Commissioners Make Appointments To ESD Boards The Hill County Commissioners Court met in a regular session Tuesday, January 26, and appointed members to the Emergency Services District (ESD) 1 and 2 boards of commissioners. Reappointed to the ESD 2 board for two-year terms were Tad Duncan and Bob Stahl. No other applications were submitted to the court for those positions. Two positions held by Clarence Pressley and Ken Goins were expiring on the ESD 1 board, and two new applicants applied to be considered for the seats. Doreen Strickland of Abbott Volunteer Fire Department and Billy Heffner of Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department both applied to serve on the board.
