With enrolment declining at A.B. Daley Community School in recent years, staff have had a challenging time figuring out classroom configurations.
The Nanton school, which currently has an enrolment of 190 kids, has had different varieties of split classrooms to deal with the fluctuating number of students. But that has meant unequal classroom sizes and inconsistent programming from year to year, reads the school’s website.

So starting next year the school will start trying out the concept of shared classrooms.
“The idea is to have (students) develop relationships over a two-year cycle,” said Jolene Becker, A.B. Daley’s principal, about shared classrooms.

Brenda Southgate said she was “flabbergasted” that anyone would steal a catalytic converter from a school bus.
Southgate discovered a noise Thursday morning when she was about to head off to start picking up six A.B. Daley Community School students. (J.T. Foster junior and senior high students have been learning from home.)

Southgate says that the alleged theft occurred overnight Dec. 16-17, when the bus was parked in the parking lot at A.B. Daley Community School. With her bus runs short these days, Southgate said she arrived at the A.B. Daley parking lot at about 7:45 a.m. Thursday.
