13-member gang of kidnappers busted, Punjab job seeker rescued

Busting a thirteen-member gang that would lure jobseekers to Goa, kidnap and extort money from them, a team of Vasco police, Crime Branch, Anti-Terrorist Squad and Pernem police rescued a resident of Punjab from a bungalow in Porvorim.
Throwing light on the modus operandi, police said that their agents in Delhi would lure innocent people who wanted to travel to Canada for the purpose of employment.
During investigation, it was revealed that the main accused Sushil Singh alias Rishab had organised his gang members in Goa who took a bungalow in Porvorim on rent.

Uttar Pradesh traders on Friday staged protests against the Goods and Services Tax’s implementation, shuttering wholesale markets. The traders also stopped a train in Kanpur.
Kanpur the business hub of the state was one of the main centres of the protest, with office bearers of trade organisations participating in the protests. Traders squatted on rail tracks and stopped the Kanpur-Pratapgarh passenger train in a protest against the new tax regime.
