The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) rescued 20 newborns shifted to nearby medical facilities after a fire broke out at a hospital in west Delhi’s Vaishali Colony in the early hours of Friday. The hospital did not have a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department.

The fire broke out in the basement of the building which was a ground-plus-three-storey structure, Delhi Fire Services Chief Atul Garg said. The New Born Child Hospital was on the first floor.
A total of nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot and all the newborn children, a total of 19, were rescued by teams of police and fire officials in the centre's ambulances and private vehicles.
