How important this process is, to getting confirmation, as we saw what happened in 1986. More importantly, i think he took head on a lot of the critics and criticism of decisions that hes made and votes hes cast. with danger to our country, as hes been quoted to say. The politics is not lost here. I think everyone in this town understands that. And to have this staged the way it was wit
hopefully no more than that. and of course the attempted murder of those still in hospital. we are waiting to hear probably within the hour on that. i want to be sure i say the correct name of the sheriff, it s scott israel. appreciate it, ali. as we watch the aarrangement in this next hour, the possibility of bail, the challenge for state right now, what should we be watching for? in florida at a first heir peerance, one of the judge s jobs is to tell the defendant what he s entitled to, does he understand the charges and address the issue of pretrial release or bail. in florida, there s a strong presummings that everyone is entitled to bail unless one of two things. unless it s a capital offense or a life in prison offense which this is and the evidence is very clear and there s a great presumption. or, or there is a very serious threat to the community. either of those options is probably available to this judge. so there is grounds for denying bail.
corker is doing. i think what bob corker is a transactional matter up on his plate. remember, he s the chairman of the senate foreign relations committee. he s very concerned about a deadline that s approaching on the jcpoa, that s the iran nuclear deal. he does not want the president to miss a deadline where he would suspend or continue to suspend sanctions against iran. so, he s trying keep your friends close and your enemies closer? correct. he s trying to work with him. he s trying to work with ben cardin to work out an aarrangement where the whole thing doesn t blow up in his face. that doesn t mean this is where lindsey graham is. i think lindsey graham s admirers and critics are somewhat amazed at what he s displayed and the slobbery and flatte flattery. it s got people speculating, what s going on with lindsey graham who used to be independent-minded, not afraid to call it as he sees it guy. and there s speculation he
continue to use whatever means i can to change our committee practices so that we do have our nominees, as many other contest in the senate require, to file tax returns. that s not unique. small business, i ve been told by senator shaheen, requires. second point i would make very quickly, the second point, the ability of the members to ask questions for the record and ask questions of the nominee has pretty well been respected. and i would hope that right would not be diminished. that we have the ability to ask questions of the witnesses in regards to areas that we think are important. no one in any way is trying to diminish that. i know you and i have agreed on a series of questions that will come from the committee itself and mr. tillerson, as i understand it, is going to answer those. i would think absolutely the aarrangement he has with exxon
