Kevin Licko officially was sworn in as Lisle s police chief on Monday. Licko was previously the village s deputy police chief and public information officer.
Lisle Chief of Police Ron Wilke has announced his retirement. Wilke has 25 years of police service in Lisle, working in mulitple positions in the department before he was promoted to chief of police in 2020. Wilke officially steps down on Feb. 25.
While violent crimes rose in many suburbs last year, most suburban police departments reported a drop in property crimes in 2020 compared to the 10-year average. That s despite widespread increases in identity theft cases stemming from unemployment benefits scams.

Beer lovers and fitness fanatics braved sleet and snow to return to restaurants and gyms Tuesday as the small German state of Saarland began a controversial easing of coronavirus restrictions.
In a move criticised by Chancellor Angela Merkel, the region on the French and Luxembourg frontiers became the first of Germany s 16 states to loosen its partial lockdown, allowing those with an up-to-date negative test to return to day-to-day activities.
