U.S. Magistrate Judge Sam Sheldon ordered this week that a former Arcola police officer, who is accused of sexual assault, remain in custody.
Hector Aaron Ruiz, 25, faces new federal charges alleging he falsified dashboard camera video and body microphone recordings in hopes of impeding the investigation. The former cop also is charged with two counts of carrying and using a Glock 17 pistol in a crime of violence.
