In an April 2019 game against Gardner Webb University, Campbell University freshman Maggie Dolan was setting up across the field from her teammate Samantha Luby as she took a penalty shot on the 8-meter.
The scoring chance for the freshman Dolan and Campbell came with 14 minutes left in a game, and the visiting Camels needed to win. If they pulled out a victory, they would make a strong push for the Big South tournament.
After battling all season and earning a starting spot in her first year of Division I lacrosse, the former Hopkinton High standout and two-time U.S. Lacrosse All-American cut in front of the opposing team’s keeper, received the ball and then ripped a shot into the back of the net. Dolan’s goal helped put the Camels on an 8-3 run as they won 18-12 and eventually made it to the Big South Tournament.
