Board will vote on new process to fill open seats
New process would allow third place finisher to be appointed to alderman seat vacated after election
Board will have public hearing 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on filling open alderman seat
The La Vergne Board of Mayor & Aldermen will appoint a successor to former Alderman Melisa Brown Tuesday night.
Brown, who was serving as vice mayor, recently resigned because she moved to Murfreesboro. Nine applicants have applied to replace her and finish her four-year term that ends in November 2022.
Prior to appointing Brown s successor, the board will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall about filling the vacancy, said Mayor Jason Cole, who won his seat in 2018.
