Valero has advised the city that it is switcing the flaring from the south flare to the north flare. The purpose of the switch is to allow crews time to fully inspect the south flare. This all started with a power outage at the refinery friday morning that led to flaring which released massive plumes of thick black smoke into the air, prompting an evacuation in the area.
