Arthur Yap (File photo) MANILA - The Sandiganbayan anti-graft court has allowed the lawyers of former Agriculture secretary and Bohol governor Arthur Yap to attach excluded evidence to court records in the graft and malversation case against him and a former congressman. The court ruled to allow the "tender of excluded evidence" by Yap and "to make the excluded evidence form part of the case records in order to preserve a record of these pieces of evidence for appeal," according to the decision published online on September 1. Yap is being prosecuted for signing a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Agriculture and National Agribusiness Corp. (Nabcor), as well as the addendum which eventually led to the release of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) allocation of former Misamis representative Marina Clarete to Flerida Alberto of the Kabuhayan at Kalusugang Alay sa Masa Foundation (KKAMFI). MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) has granted a plea filed by former Technology and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC) deputy director general Dennis Cunanan to be allowed to travel to the United States while his appeal on the graft case against him remains pending. In a resolution dated Sept. 29 uploaded on the SC website on Tuesday the SC's First Division allowed Cunanan to travel to the US from October 7 to November 5. Last July 14, the SC already granted Cunanan's motion to travel from June 29 to July 20 but required him to submit anew his detailed flight and travel itinerary, considering that the original date of departure had already lapsed. Last July 28, Cunanan filed a manifestation of compliance proposing a revised travel itinerary to the US departing on October 7 and returning on November 5. The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the second graft and malversation cases involving P4.9 million in Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of former North Cotabato 2
nd District Rep. Gregorio Tocmo Ipong filed against the late Aaron Foundation Philippines, Inc. (AFPI) president Alfredo A. Ronquillo due to his death.
His first graft and malversation cases involving P9.6 million had been dismissed in September 2020 due to his death long before the cases were filed.
His co-accused in the P4.9 million PDAF cases, aside from Ipong, are Technology and Livelihood Resource Center (TLRC) Director General Antonio Ortiz, TLRC Deputy Director General Dennis Cunanan, and TLRC Chief Accountant Marivic Jover. The cases are still undergoing trial by the Sandiganbayan.
