A Belfast man who advanced towards police after claiming he had a cough has been jailed for four months.
Prosecutors said Aaron Carlin defied repeated requests to back off because of the pandemic, instead pressing himself against an officer and then declaring it was only a joke .
The 27-year-old, of Great Victoria Street in the city, pleaded guilty to assault on police.
He also admitted disorderly behaviour and resisting police in a separate incident linked to Covid regulations.
Belfast Magistrates Court heard PSNI officers were called to disturbances outside his hostel accommodation on August 10 last year.
