Besides the AAP, leaders of some smaller outfits either merged their organisations with the BJP or joined it with their supporters as Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the entry of all of them will strengthen the ruling party.
The Chandigarh mayoral polls, slated to be held on Thursday, were deferred till further orders after the presiding officer fell sick, claimed several municipal councillors of the Congress and the AAP, citing a message they received from the municipal authorities.

The Supreme Court has stayed proceedings before a trial court on a defamation complaint filed by Gujarat University against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and AAP MP Sanjay Singh for alleged remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi s educational qualifications. The court asked the Gujarat High Court to take a decision within four weeks on a plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders seeking quashing of the summonses issued to them by the trial court.
The judge noted that in this case though initially bail was granted to some other accused on medical grounds and even extended by the higher courts for some time, their applications were later "dismissed with strong observations not only by the High Court, but also by this court, as it was felt that the process of law was being abused by moving such frequent applications and these co-accused were directed to take the desired treatment or even to undergo some surgeries from judicial custody, though from the private hospitals of their choice."
