OneTrust DataGuidance confirmed, on 14 December 2020, with Aadya Misra, Associate at Spice Route Legal, that the National Institution for Transforming India ( NITI Aayog ) had issued a white paper on public health surveillance in India, in the wake of the Government s recently established National Digital Health Mission. In particular, Misra noted, The NITI Aayog has suggested the implementation of a surveillance system to bolster public health systems in the country, which comes at a time where there is presently no comprehensive data protection framework. Individual electronic health records, with unique health identifiers, will form the basis of this intelligent surveillance system which, in turn, will analyse and create action plans for health management.
