Badghis: Clashes End in Qala-e-Naw After Mediation by Elders The clashes between the Taliban and security forces in Qala-e-Naw, capital of Badghis province, stopped on Thursday afternoon after the mediation of tribal elders, said the provincial governor, Hesamuddin Shams.   “With the mediation of the tribal elders, from 1:00 pm today a ceasefire has been in place,” Shams said, adding: “The Taliban has left the outskirts of the city of Qala-e-Naw and the security forces have the situation under control.”  “We are standing by our commitments and we hope that the Taliban also respects their commitments,” he said.  Local sources said that several parts of the city have seen damage due to the clashes between the security forces and the Taliban.
