A MYSTERY ordnance discovered on a beach that was found to be “highly explosive” has been destroyed by experts. Multiple pieces of the explosive ordnance were found on Medmerry beach following a search by Selsey Coastguard on Sunday. Photos taken by the team were sent to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team who blew up the object, destroying it. The beach was reopened to the public following the controlled explosion. A Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team spokesman gave advice on any such discoveries. He said: “Ordnance comes in all shapes and sizes, if you come across any ordnance or something you’re not sure about on the beach call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
