“Potential irregularities” within Powys Council’s highways division are being investigated by police.
Dyfed-Powys Police Force has confirmed that it is looking into the highways team after councillors at the area s community council sounded the alarm.
Neither the police nor the council have given details of the “irregularities”. However, the BBC reported that the investigation is believed to centre on “the possible misuse of a significant amount of tarmacadam”.
Concerns were first raised last year by a councillor in the Llangynog area in the north of the county.
He raised his concerns after reports of tarmac allegedly designated for pothole repairs in the village was being used for private driveways.
