look at the people waiting in line here, they re waiting to get in line to be asked questions by very specially trained folks, these folks are going to put a sticker on the back of their parse port, a sticker that is a 1-6 number on it. you can see on the back of my passport here, i ve got a three. that means you can take as many eye quids as you want, don t have to take your shoes off, you can walk through security. these people get a four, five or six, they have a long day at the export, you can see the x-ray machine that they put everybody s bag through. you get a five, they unpack your bag down to every last single item. we talked to the head of security and he said the way the tsa does it by treating everybody equal, number one, it doesn t work, and the other thing you see, we don t have any of the body scan machines or intimate patdowns like the u.s. because the head of ll security says that stuff doesn t make a difference either. it s publicity, it s

as a buffer between them and the united states, troops in the south. also, insofar as this is a little troublesome it s huge for china s diplomacy because it means we have to keep, the united states and other countries, have to keep on going to beijing, appealing to chinese to use their influence to moderate north korea s behavior. jon: isn t it true that every time north korea has acted up in such a provocative way, essentially it has been rewarded? i mean, yes, some sanctions have been imposed but overall but over all, north korea gets what it wants when it acts up like this. i m not sure the right word is rewarded. they just haven t been punished. so this is yet another provocation. we ve seen a year ago, there was an exchange of shellings, sinking of a north korean warship, they destroyed civilian airliners, they ve done a series of things, and the problem everybody is facing is we can put more and more sanctions, but it doesn t really have any effect, given how insulated the
sea, do we, china? the chinese view the u.s. presence anywhere in their hemisphere as provocative. it s counter to what their intentions are. they are going to push back on where we are and what we re doing. they want to declare this is their backyard. jon: south korea s president has taken a tougher line on north korea and having this backing from the united states can only help his positions it would seem. i agree with that. i also believe that our president has the intention to try to calm this situation down. the last thing that anybody wants is for either side to overreact in some kind of retaliation. having a very influential force that is available to be there, to back you up as a big brother, would be one way to look at it, is one way to kind of calm it down. jon: it is pretty amazing the power of the aircraft carrier
