KILLEEN, TX â A Killeen High School history teacher has passed away at the age of 55, the district announced Sunday. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David âScottâ Dumler, a history teacher at Killeen High School, KISD said in a statement. For over 25 years Mr. Dumler captivated students by immersing them in historical periods using music, costumes, and instruments. Described as phenomenal, Mr. Dumler created daily videos for his virtual learners and when he became too ill, he asked colleagues to continue to the tradition on his behalf. His brilliance and dedication to education will now become part of the history at the campus he loved.
A Killeen High School senior died last Tuesday night, according to a statement released by the Killeen Independent School District on Monday.
âThe Killeen High School family is greatly saddened to hear of the loss of a KHS student. We have received permission from the family to share that a member of the senior class passed away Tuesday night. No additional information is available at this time,â the statement read. âOur thoughts and prayers are with the studentâs family and friends.â
The student was coded as an in-person learner at KHS, district spokeswoman Taina Maya confirmed Monday.
Multiple social media posts have alleged the student died of complications due to COVID-19, but Maya could not confirm the allegation.
