Paul Utke, incumbent state senator, defeated two GOP challengers with 57.8% of the vote with 95% of the precincts reporting their results from the Aug. 9 primary. Utke will face DFL candidate A. John Peters, who ran unopposed in the primary, in the general election on Nov. 8.
Several incumbent state legislators, particularly in the Senate, edged out competitors with more extreme views on COVID-19, election security and more.
