Lockdown restrictions forcing Canadians not to see their loved ones in person this holiday season have led to a spike in the number of Christmas cards and gifts being mailed out, which has in turn resulted in a stamp shortage.
“We don’t have any (stamp) booklets left but we’re doing what we have to do,” joked one employee at the Pharmaprix pharmacy on St-Denis St. in Montreal’s Villeray district, which has started to cut strips of stamps off a roll in order to meet demand.
