“Our streets upgrade projects are contributing to the creation of a city of which Southlanders can be proud. Along with other major developments, these projects are fantastic for the region, however we know that the construction period will be disruptive to retailers, businesses and visitors in the short-term.” The streets upgrade work was expected to take about 18 months to complete. However, the council was committed to working closely with retailers, business owners and the community to minimise disruption as much as possible, while pushing ahead with work quickly, Moogan said. Information sessions will give details on what is planned and what the construction period means for business and the community, including road closures and lane reductions.
