countries, only to turn around and give those same nations billions of dollars in aid? does that make any sense at all? doug mcelway is live in d.c. with the exclusive report. good morning, doug. reporter: good morning, martha. when the american people have very little patience for wasteful government spending, the new report from the craigal research service, is sure to raise the ire of congressional research service is sure to raise the ire of people, taxpayers have been sending millions of dollars in foreign aid to governments who own massive amounts of u.s. debt. this is akin to sending a credit card company or collection agency a christmas present every year, a few examples, china, received $27 million in u.s. foreign aid but own $1.2 trillion in u.s. debt. we give $461 million in foreign aid to columbia, every year, and they own $20 billion in u.s. debt. and, one more example, u.s. taxpayers scarf up $317 million, in aid to mexico, every year, and mexico owns $33 billion in u
