Bells were rung and the names of nearly 3,000 people were read out in somber ceremonies in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania on Monday to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Al-Qaeda attack on the United States.The names of the more than 2,600 who died in New York were read out by family members and young relatives not alive at the time of the attack.
Now 22 years after the Sept. 11 attacks, a steel beam from the World Trade Center can still be found in Rutherford County, where it serves as a memorial honoring the 2,977 people who died that day.
