We recently told you about the high pay some Danbury public employees are earning… Now comes word that six of New Fairfield’s 10 highest-paid town employees are police, with some of the officers earning more than $245,000 thanks to overtime… that according to 2022 payroll data from New Fairfield. That’s more than half of all overtime paid by the town. In New Fairfield, of the $5.5 million paid to 211 municipal employees last year, $424,000 was overtime compensation for 45 individual employees.
In Newtown, a man from New York was arrested after police say he used fake ID at a bank. 57 year old Darren Brown of Bayshore, NY is facing charges including identity theft and forgery for using he fake identification in an attempt to get statements and money that didn’t belong to him at the Union Savings Bank branch in Newtown. According to police, Brown also went to other banks in the area trying to obtain statements and money by using false identification cards too.
The Danbury Police Activities League is a nonprofit volunteer-driven organization aimed at providing youth in our area with many programs and services aimed at meeting their mentoring, athletic, and recreational needs. A recent “Dining for Dollars” event was held at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Danbury to benefit the nonprofit, and it was successful. Guests could request that up to 10% of their total dining bill be donated to the effort, and last week a check was presented at the restaurant for $400… money which will help the Danbury Police Activities League meet their goals.
Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito on Thursday, announced a Task Force for the creation of the Office of Federal, State and Local Grant Opportunities. The task force will pursue opportunities for the City of Danbury and it’s non-profit and business community. It will partner with all city departments, as well as the Danbury Board of Education, and will serve as a hub for non-profits and businesses to pursue grants at not only the local level, but also state and federal levels.
