a new broadband access. the problem for senator tuberville, alabama received that 1. 4 billion dollars in new broadband funding because of joe biden s bipartisan infrastructure bill, a bill that republicans and that are tuberville voted against. and there is a similar tweet from republican senator john cornyn. celebrating the 3. 3 billion dollars in federal funds that texas received to expand broadband in that state. as you can probably guess. senator cornyn also voted against the biden infrastructure bill, that was responsible for that influx of funding. in south carolina, it was republican congresswoman nancy mace touting a new bus project in her state that was, again, made possible by that very same infrastructure bill, which nancy mace also voted against. in fact, when the bill passed, congresswoman mace called it a fiasco, and a socialist wish list.
actually mace voted against president biden s 2021 infrastructure bill that ultimately provided enough funding for such project. and in an op-ed for fox this year, mace defended her decision to defend the bill, calling it quote, a fiasco and absurd. then, returning ghost of the week favorite, alabama senator tommy tuberville. we are losing track how many times he s been nominated. funny how he keeps managing to turn up there. tuberville took to twitter to praise that 1. 4 billion dollars his state will be receiving for broadband access in underserved areas, calling it vital for the success of the community, except, and as you can probably guess where this is going by now, tuberville did not think it was vital enough for his state when he voted against biden s infrastructure bill, which is now funding that very same access. not about to miss out on an opportunity, president biden
thomas is not the only republican appointed supreme court justice, it with a republican billionaire buddy. senate democrats are now fast-tracking a vote for ethics reforms at the supreme court after revelations from propublica that justice samuel alito failed to disclose a luxury fishing trip to alaska in 2008 with a republican billionaire mega donor. samuel alito also failed to recuse himself from several cases involving paul singer, who came before the supreme court, including one case in which samuel alito voted with majority to award paul singers company 2. 4 billion dollars. ethics experts tell propublica that samuel alito appears to have violated federal law by failing to disclose the private jet travel. samuel alito tried to defend himself and a bizarre rebuttal in the wall street journal instead of responding to propublica directly. he disputes that he needed to recuse himself from any of the
