A fire that spread Thursday evening through a house on Grove Street has left a resident out of his home.
Jacksonville Fire Chief Doug Sills said his department was called at 7:47 p.m. Thursday to a fire at 872 Grove St. that quickly had spread throughout the interior.
The owner of the home was burning a candle in the downstairs hallway when he threw a curtain down from the second floor, Sills said.
