family and move to one of the 60 emergency shelters around the city. the services offered at the hotel which listed rooms for $2 hundred open to travelers have been so good. many migrants have been here since october. they get private rooms, three appropriate warm meals a day. snacks, baby formula available on every floor. free healthcare including vaccinations and enrollment into city schools. but being a sanctuary city is expensive. the city is spending $93,000 a year for every migrant family of four. the city says the migrant crisis will cost at least $596 million this year but could reach a billion. eric adams says the city cannot afford to foot the bill and all city services could face cuts. cities should not be carrying the weight of a national problem. this is unfair to all of our cities to have to go through
onslaught of free services, including shelter. behind me is the row hotel. 3600 migrant families with children live in this hotel, by the way was going for about $200 a night for travelers before it was turned into the largest of four humanitarian relief centers set up by the city in the heart of manhattan, prime real estate, steps away from popular times square, they get private rooms, culturally appropriate three meals a day, baby formula, healthcare, including mental health and vaccinations, and enrollment into city schools. all of this is expensive. it s costing the city $93,000 a year to provide these services for every migrant family of four. the city says it has spent at least $596 million on the migrant crisis this year, but that number could be a billion when it s all said and done.
good morning, cheryl. cheryl: anybody that said greg abbott sending buses can stop. the texas governor is saying he wants to make sure people understand they are under siege at the southern border, as is texas. you spoke with jonathan fahey to talk about the political side and here is what he had to say. he s just a scapegoat, this administration has significant amount of bad press because of this issue. come in and agree to keep the border open and that is what he did, he shouldn t be upset, he was doing what they wanted him to do, which was in fact nothing. cheryl: nothing happening at the southern border, in new york city, the city is spending $596 million on migrants, taxpayer
