Ukraine will receive one million shells — up from 800,000 — as part of the Czech initiative to provide ammunition to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, the Italian media Corriere della Sera reported, citing its sources.
A Czech-led initiative had concluded contracts for 1 million artillery shells for Ukraine, with shipments expected already in April, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported on March 28, citing undisclosed sources.
"We can do much more than the initially announced number," Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky told Bloomberg, saying that the number may be as high as 1.5 million.
A representative of the Ukrainian security services explained to NV on Feb. 22 what Czech President Petr Pavel meant when he mentioned purchasing 800,000 shells for the Ukrainian army.
