and that s one of the reasons why these workers are striking. because they want new product to come into this plant. they don t want this plant to shut down. and there are three other plants in the state, the lordstown plant in ohio and then the warren transmission plant and a plant in maryland. the lordstown and the warren transmission plant have already been idled. the question is can they put new product in there. so that s one of the big issues on the table. what gm did yesterday is so unusual. they actually made public the broad strokes of what they have proposed to the uaw. we can take a look at some of those i. what they have said is they are willing to invest $7 billion over the next four years. that s the length of the contract. they will invest in 5400 jobs. they will do something about the unallocated plants. they said they have a solution. and they have proposed wage increases, either to come on a yearly basis or in a lump sum
