hearing in 50 years since project blue book was to encourage folks in the i.c. and outside the intel community to come forward with their stories. congress approved language in last year s defense policy bill requiring investigations of uaps. previously lawmakers said the military dismissed ufo reports as kooky. gillian: you are not going to tell us either whether we are or not alone. i m in congress, there are 535 members here. we are not alone on capitol hill. gillian: thanks for nothing, chad. talk to you soon. try to imply that it was either rudy giuliani or somebody else as the human informant and the fbi saying this is a valuable human informant. the reason we are in this situation is because the fbi has not been truthful and we don t have confidence in the fbi. john: house oversight chairman james comer defending his criticism of the fbi and plans to hold christopher wray
evaluating, these are the details because now we re in a situation already where you have some members on the gop that have come out and said no matter what, i m not voting to the raise the limit, at least one or two said no matter what, they re not voting to the raise debt limit are. that brings the number in the majority down to two that you can lose. you go beyond that, and there s probably at least 8-10 other members on twitter saying, hey, the deal as it stands, i would be a no. you would be much better off to have the everybody waiting for the details of the bill, debate it behind closed doors and then go out there and give an honest opinion. instead, you re getting people trapped the in positions they re not going to be able to back off from, and i think that s dangerous. jason: yeah. there really are some positive movements forward. and, look, there s only so much you can get. there s no one person, there s 535 members of congress can, you ve got a president on the other party,
orderly fashion. just give them time to deal with any potential hiccup that could come over the course of these negotiations. it s important to point out that once the white house and the speaker cut a deal, they, again, have to sell that deal to all 535 members of congress. there is a good chance that won t be an easy process. republicans are going to allow their members 72 hours to review the bills by sex and race any concerns, and then of course, they re going to have to pass the senate was at least 60 votes. to answer your question about whether or not they could be brought back up here to vote on it, that s a real possibility. the senate is in session next week, but the house is not. so, if they have a deal and they get that legislative text, and they get through that 72 hours before the recess is of, i would expect them to be called back here to begin the process of voting in time for that next date. talk about crossing that finish line by the skin of their teeth. ryan nobles
try to keep them safe and their staff? well, this is a really difficult discussion because, you know, in the post january 6th world and the world where threats to members of congress are up 400% over the last six years, the capitol police is about now, the capitol police the secret service is responsible for people like jake sullivan, that investigation is going on, that could result in people being fired. they take that very seriously. the capitol police is in charge of protecting members of congress. there are 535 members of congress. there are 1,800 and change capitol police. do the math. to put together a security detail for the congress and the senate would be about 3,700, 3,200 depending on how you did it. you would have to triple the side of the capitol police essentially and that would be something congress would have to do.
try and make it more difficult for the security to be breached. but it would be a monumental investment, taxpayer investment, to give around the clock security to all 535 members of congress and it is just something congress has not shown a willingness to do. it will be interesting to see if he s pressed on that today by members. what can be done to try and give them more protection at home and it is also important to keep in mind, ana, specifically what we saw with the attack on nancy pelosi s husband, when she wasn t there, even though she was the speaker of the house at the time, she had no security, her husband had no security. so family members are also very vulnerable right now and it is something that at this point capitol police do not have a specific remedy for. clint, i thought it was interesting to hear from a capitol police consulting psychologist who noted the impact of social media on the threat case load, saying, quote, people have a false sense of
