the problem is there s more moisture headed for western washington. we could see 1 to 3 inches additionally this weekend. flood watches for this part of the country are posted straight through sunday. let s switch gears and talk about more cold weather for the southeast. it s 20 degrees in atlanta. that means that there is still a very fine layer of ice on the roads and larger chunks of ice that haven t melted despite yesterday s sunshine. we saw refreezing overnight. we ll continue to see the cold temperatures for today, eventually warming up above freezing, and then slowly, gradually, will warm up into the 50s by next week. it will also be nice to get milder weather for new england. look at the heavy, heavy snow we saw in massachusetts. this is part of the same system that brought the snow and ice to the south and merged with another system along the eastern seaboard and hammered new england. 15 inches in suffolk county, long island. and then toward the berkshires, 32.8 inches in wes
massachusetts. 32.8 inches of snow on the ground. lesser amounts for new york. about 9. a little over 9 inches of snow. still a sizable storm indeed. all right. as we take a look at the map, we re watching also for wet weather to come into the pacific northwest. we ve had rain and two landslides yesterday in western washington state. unfortunately, the pattern that s coming through shows a series of storms coming up from the up from the central pacific. that warm, moist air with the threat of rain for this part of country not just today and tomorrow but the flood watches persist straight through sunday and a concern into the weekend. all the low clouds and wet weather affects the air travel. in the day, delays in seattle and san francisco and in detroit you are getting a little bit of snow right now. here s that snow sliding across michigan at this hour so watch out for some light snow showers, cleveland, as well. scattered lake-effect snow showers for western new york, parts of pennsy
8.6 million americans are in that situation. and when you take all these people together, when you look at the unemployed and the underemployed in america, you are talking about 16.5% forget the million. 16.5%. and what that means is that basically it s one in six people, tony, who are in the work force. one in six people who are in that situation, unemployed or underemployed. and check this out. those who are unemployed, the average length has gone up substantially. this is huge. i was looking at how this has changed 32.8 weeks. in may, it was slightly higher, 35 weeks. but a year ago, tony, at 22 weeks. so we re talking about a jump of ten additional weeks for the amount of time people are spending unemployed, looking for that job. and this is on average, which means there is plenty of people even higher than that. that s how bad it gets. okay. boy, that frames it up pretty dramatically. all right, josh, thank you. we have a lot going on today, in case you hadn t noticed. and h
