outrage, because people who live in these communities, we could pretend to be shocked, you know every night. people who have been living in these communities, before there were cell phones with video everywhere have been complaining about these for decades. a long time yeah. i want to ask you, you saw what happened in ferguson right? when there was a rush to judgment by some it is believed there was a rush to judgment. are either of you concerned about a rush to judgment here before all the facts come out? oh, yeah, we re always concerned about a rush to judgment. because public perception is 9/10 of the law. everyone has a video and as soon as we see the video, they ve already signed, sealed and convicted the cop in the actions he or she has taken before any facts come out. so it s important that like jeff had mentioned with the baltimore police department is a great police department. they do great work down there. baltimore s a tough city. there s a lot of complaints about the

making the decision. being on the floor themselves. why do you think that would happen when it is not. it doesn t happen very often. that a police officer gets indicted. why do you think that would hap snen a happen? after a careful review of the evidence, the facts in these cases when people are brought into the grand jury. that s what they have to weigh. they can t weigh public perception. perception is 9/10 of the law. court of law. grand jury. looking to indict someone. you have to be as impartial as possible. and base your decision. you have to remember the officers are innocent. until they re proven, guilty. so we have to give them the benefit of the doubt. as would anyone else. police officers are dangerous, tough job. i would not want to bea police officer. i had hair when i started, 22, 23 years ago. do you think, what do you think that went through the officer s mind? asking you this. as he was trying to take him down. i think they made a decision at some point, n

they re up to. but i think in large measure, you re right. they re not going to want to give it back. and if you so what is your platform say in 16? that s going to be i think part of the struggle. as i ve said on this program for a long, long time, you can t just talk about repeal when americans have something in hand. you have to talk about what do you replace it with. how do you refashion the system, not just for the seven million who are now in the network for the first time in some case, but for everybody who have been affected by this bill. how do you do the handoff where somebody has health care, and they give that up, but i promise to replace it. what you say is you get the preexisting condition piece. you keep that in place. but that only comes if you have more enroll s. that is the rub that is the rub. let me go back to joan here. politically, i go back to what we all cooked up here, which is that old phrase, possession is 9/10 of the law.

let me finish tonight with this. possession is 9/10th of the law. that s a pretty good way to look at the affordable care act and what the president had to say today. he s right. are the republicans ready to take away what people have, the health insurance that is now a reality in their lives? are the republican candidates and office holders truly will to say, that s it, it s going away, we re going back to square one, to the days where politicians decried the tens of millions of uninsured people hobbling into emergency rooms for basic health care? president obama and a democratic congress have together created what is an israeli prime minister once called new facts. five years ago, when we argued about health care, we argued about what wasn t. today, in the future when we argue about health care, we argue about what is. what is is in the hands of millions of american people now. health care is in their possession. the question is who will have the nerve to go to them and take it away?
