Good rains swept down on Nelson Mandela Bay and nearby Gamtoos River farmland, and, though the Langkloof catchment did not fare as well, more rain is expected in the week.
The heavy downpour in Nelson Mandela Bay has caused flooding in parts of the city, forcing the municipality to relocate some residents and close roads as a precautionary measure. Though some residents affected by the floods are refusing to be moved to safer areas, the city said it remained on high alert.
Wildlife is returning to a lower section of the Baakens River Valley and security for walkers and joggers is improving thanks to a community-sponsored ranger project.
