. this is cnn breaking news. welcome to our viewers joining us here in the united states and all around the world i m rosemary church, we continue tracking breaking news out of the middle east this hour where major earthquake killed hundreds of people in syria and turkey and the death toll is rising. syrian state media report at least 237 people have died in syria and more than 600 injured an unknown number could be trapped under rubble. we got this video earlier of a rescuer carrying an injured child away from the rubble of a damaged building. the white helmets rescue group known as the syrian self-defense declared the north western part of syria a disaster area, dozens of buildings collapsed that both country, turkey s vice president said at least 284 died in southern turkey and more than 23 hon injured, emergency workers asking for silence to hear possible cries for help from people trapped under the rubble. the governor of istanbul said nearly 1,000 search and rescue
