is because before now, practically every car on every road in cuba aside from some russian ones, reflected the state policy that only automobiles that were in cuba before the revolution could be bought and sold among the citize citizens. given the revolution happened in 1959, that meant 1959 has been the end of the line in terms of cuban automobile availability until now. now, starting today, under these very, very slowly loosening restrictions on cuban live under the dictatorship, cuban citizens can now by new vehicles on the open market. at least theoretically they can do that because the average cuban wage is only around $20 per month and at the dealership, you will find this representative car costing $262,000. what? yes. that s the mark up.
they were on the rise over this time last year. the seasonally adjusted rate of sales is the highest since 2007. looking forward, moody s said this. the recovery is gaining traction and the job market is improving. there signs that global growth is accelerating. pessimists will say we have seen this before. we saw an average of 262,000 jobs in the first quarter. by the second quarter, that number was cut in half. this seems different and wall street is acting like this is different. pushing above 16,000 for the first time in history. what does a healing economy mean for the cycle? for one thing it would be just about every incumbent governor running for reelection regardless of party. all would be able to run on a platform of improved economy and job outlook. this is a big help to republican

most people like the idea. i think it ll cut down the length of the line. i think that makes sense. i think that should have started from the beginning. i think, you know, that would have eased up and you wouldn t have had these long lines and people trying to, you know, fight for gas. i think jersey actually did the right thing by doing that. reporter: sure made this guy happy. feels good not to get cursed at? heck yeah. reporter: the rules go into effect 6:00 a.m. friday, and the mayor says they will keep them into effect until they don t need them anymore, until there s plenty of gas. jim dolan, abc news. there s more frustration and anger growing on long island now that thousands of customers still have no power. some residents are being told the juice won t be back until perhaps thanksgiving. at last count, 262,000 homes and businesses are in the dark.
