Yamaha caused quite a stir by
announcing a massive price cut for the FZ 25 duo. The new prices have not just made it the most affordable 250cc bike on sale in India by a huge margin, but it’s also cheaper than its 155cc sibling the Yamaha MT-15. Both these bikes are as different as chalk and cheese but saving up some money for a bigger engine is quite a steal, right? Or is there more to it than the numbers? Let’s find out.
Engine And Performance
The Yamaha FZ 25 gets a 249cc, air-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 20.8PS at 8,000rpm and 21Nm at 6,000rpm. This SOHC, 2-valve engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The MT-15, on the other hand, is armed with a more advanced 155cc, liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine putting out 18.5PS at 10,000rpm and 13.9Nm at 8,500rpm from the Yamaha R15.
